Old tools and gadgets…

I love the old heavy handcrafted feel of old tools. Even when they are rusted and disguarded, they  display a deep charactor that modern plastics, stainless steel or  composite materials simply can’t hope, and should not dare to aspire to.

They bear marks that show that they have had and stood up to a life of hard labour and that they have risen to the task of doing their job well.  Eventually technology catches up with them and they are disguarded for  newer gadgets thought to be more up to date, or replaced completely by some automated process.

Here are a few photos of some pre-loved tools  enjoying a well earned retirement that caught my eye…

The above photo is of an old and rather rusted glass cutter…

But the implements  below are a mystery to me… if anyone knows that this impliment was used for, I’d love to know please. The first photo shows the whole implement, and second  one a close-up of the mechanism at the base.
