Looooovvvvvve cream cheese in pastries! Cheese danish is so yummy and I imagine the concept here is similar. Berries would work wondefully here, too.

I do have a muffin recipe that incorporates a dollop of jam inside it: http://kiwidutch.wordpress.com/2011/11/01/new-540/ but never thought previously of adding cream cheese to the mix. I’d recommend half of a whole poached apricot on the top, it’s delicious!!! Ooooh poached pears seriously yummy!

LOL thanks my kids will LOOOOVE the jam joke, actually this one would take my kids total joke tally to three…
the only other joke they know is:

Question: “where do whales go to get weighed?’” Answer: to a railway station! !” (and in their next breath): “whale weigh station, …get it?”

Yep, groan, we heard that one about 500 times too.
btw, a good flavoursome fresh apricot ranks right up there with strawberries as my favourite fruit!

I’ve been making my muffins like this for years! Super yum! Most of the time I use a dollop of apricot jam instead of a piece of apricot though. Poached pears are really awesome too.
