Ah, yes, “God beams” as we refer to them, Gorgeous to witness, extremely difficult to photograph! Don’t beat yourself up…your little p&s camera doesn’t have the range to capture this scene. To do it properly would require a DSLR, a tripod and several shots to capture all details in the shadows without blowing out the highlights and all the details in the highlights without losing the shadow detail. I can “see” what you were going after so pat yourself on the back for that!

Thanks so much for the really kind words, but if you had seen this in real life you would realise how short of the mark I really fell… these photos are but a poor representation of the beauty that Mother Nature unfolded before us and I really wish that on this occasion I could have done her better justice. Still, better a glimpse of the grandeur than none, right?
