In this post you’ll have to indulge me…the Detail Fanatic in me is just itching to drool over the detail in the furniture I featured in yesterday’s post. My Zoom lens was working overtime, resistance is futile, let’s lean in close and take a look…

You are right, the detail in this furniture is beautiful. Are there still craftsmen like this today in our fast moving throwaway world?

I believe there are Piglet, but probably you have to do some serious searching.
Sadly the price tags of pieces as beautiful and as lovingly made as this are prohibitave for most of us….(although if there are any skilled woodworkers out there who can not find an appreciateive audience I’d like to let you know that Kiwidutch would be open to any/all donations… I would promise to drool every day and to love your handiwork to bits for the rest of my days LOL)

The craftsmanship is remarkable. And all this without power tools…

The centuries old tradition of craftsmen… highly skilled and detailed work …and today.. sadly if the rise of IKEA is anything to go by, vastly, hugely, criminally underappreciated.

I wish more artists like these could earn a living from making stuff like this… sadly labour intensive = expensive these days, and quite rightly…who wouldn’t want to be paid decently for their craftsmanship?
