Welcome to My Afternoon Tea Party …(Oh I wish!)

In my final post about Sunshine Organics in Maungaturoto I’m looking at some of the backing on offer… I’ve caught them on their first day open after the Christmas/ New Year holidays so they don’t yet have their usual selection up to speed, but what I do see looks very tempting.

There are savoury muffins,  a fruity carrot cake that’s dairy and egg free, coconut and orange syrup cake, a health slice and chocolate muffins… YUM!  It’s inspiring me to see that “organic” doesn’t have to mean plain or boring and would be welcome at any first class afternoon tea party!

    • I know, I’m very much inspired to try and bake with more organic ingredients than I use now. We buy a few things like organic veggies…carrots etc because the taste is SO much better than the non organic ones and they are often wonderful raw. It’s easy to remember to buy organic when it comes to veggies but it tends to slip our minds that there are organic baking ingredients out there too.

      • Exactly and not forgetting that organic are much cleaner and healthier!

    • Alex,
A good friend in NZ starting baking her own bread daily after returning from several weeks holiday and finding some bread in the bottom of the fridge that she thought she’d cleaned out before she went and it wasn’t even mouldy.
Her first thought was ??? Bread ISN’T something that *should* last this long… what the heck have they put in it so it does? She thought it was so scary that it was her last commercial loaf.
