Another archive post about our trip to southern Germany and to Legoland Deutschland.

Our accommodation was located about sixteen kilometres away from the theme park and on several occasions we decided to take a scenic route through some of the local villages to get there.

Sometimes this was planned and other times it was due to our “amazing”navigational skills, the less said about which the better.

Over the last six years my children quite often complain that I’m “taking blogging photographs again…” but on this occasion it was them and not me who not only spotted the attraction in question but also started squealing excitedly for Himself to please turn the car around so that Mama could please get out and get pictures.

I had no clue what they had seen until the car stopped and they let me out. (Looks like I have them well trained after all). They got out for a better look too, and you will quickly see why… “Quirky” doesn’t even begin to cover the decoration on this house! We all have smiles on our faces, it’s a house that is inspiring, witty and it’s all been done with great skill and an eye for design.

There is a sign hanging outside, there’s a name with a number that might be a phone number underneath,  and I’m not certain if it’s  an advertisement for a business or the name they have given to the house.

Mainly we are trying not to be too intrusive because there is nobody home and we don’t want to look like peeping toms or burglars casing the joint.

Somebody here is a serious artist and I’d hazard a guess that “maybe” their preferred  medium of choice is pencil?

I love that at the bottom of the pencils in the two gates, they have recycled the metal from old tin cans to be the metal holder of the pink “eraser” at the bottom of the pencil, it’s stunningly thought out and brilliantly put together.

It wasn’t just the window boxes and the gates that got the pencil treatment, the theme was followed through on the garden planter too. This artist clearly has an eye for detail, colour and a brilliant sense of humour… all of us in the Kiwidutch family just loves  this house!

It’s in a tiny village, (stupidly I didn’t get which one)  it’s off the main roads, it’s close to Legoland Germany, it’s full of fun and it’s a wonderful find! I dare you to smile as broadly as we did…

    • Carrie,
Closer inspection tells us that it’s taken a serious amount of work to make this, but wow, what a work of art! The kids still think about it whenever we mention this trip.

    • Sarsm,
It’s somewhere quite close to our hotel, and it’s a find that delighted everyone in the family. Every village should have a whimsical house like this I think!
