Quirky Arty Sculptural Objects Are Just My Cup Of Tea…

Whilst on holiday last summer in Germany, we noticed in a brochure that detailed sites to see, that there was apparently an extinct volcano in the vicinity.

Noting that there were no actual mountain-like geographic features around us, we got curious and decided to see what an almost flat volcano might look like.

Once we found the place, it became clear that even the entrance path was beyond my capabilities on crutches, so Himself deposited me at the “Gastwirtschaft Sünnen” restaurant in Steffeln where I could sit until he and our guest had completed their walk.

Little Mr and Kiwi Daughter decided that they preferred taking lunch to taking exercise and joined me in the restaurant.

There was a bit of a wait for our order so we look around the restaurant, quite entertained by the sight of several new things. The first was a long leather band that had been sewn so that it could hold and display beer bottles. I am not superstitious but I know people who are, so I smiled at the sight of the upside down horse shoe, they would be horrified because apparently that makes the “luck” run out. (ok, … if you believe in that stuff). I love quirky things, and when they come in the form of arty sculptural objects, then even better. I’m really not an “ornament” sort of person but this little pair would look great in a garden (if we had one) and it they made me smile.
