A Serendipitous Sighting Has An “UP” Side…

Tags: ,

Regular readers of this blog will know that I love quirky things.  I am always surprised at how many unusual interesting things you can see just whilst travelling around the city on day to day business, (or in my case, to and from hospital appointments).  One of these interesting sights occurred whilst waiting in traffic by on the President Kennedylaan, and looking into the driveway between Omniversum and Museon. The driveway belongs to the Omniversum cinema and restaurant complex and I assume that they were shortly to be hosting a large celebration of some sort because a large number of balloons were being delivered. Such are the power of movie images I immediately started thinking about the movie “UP” where the balloons mak the house take off into the sky. fortunately for the lady holding these balloons, gravity prevailed and she remained safely on terra firma. Another interesting, serendipitous image that I am certain bought a smile to anyone else who happened to catch sight of it too. I wonder how many of those others may have also had an instantaneous “UP” thought? I can’t have been the only one.

    • Carrie,
THANK YOU for your kind thoughts and good wishes!!!!

Himself and I were busy on two different phones as soon as we heard… Luckily and Thankfully, everyone we know is ok… freaked out, but ok. We own two houses close to the epicenter we still have a heap to check but early reports say little or next to no damage so fingers crossed. I will report back as soon as I know more …. Thank you so much for thinking of us… SO much appreciated xoxo kiwi

      • Carrie,

Houses can be rebuilt, people can’t, friends and family are counting their blessings that only two people died. a 7.8 quake is almost 20x bigger than the 6.1 we were in, so I can not begin to imagine the fear of little kids, adults worrying and scared to go to sleep at night, people who worry if they now have a job or a viable business left. … the damage is so much more than road, bridge and house repairs.
I suppose that first it’s a huge sigh of relief and then it’s … “here we go again” …. and probably a few tears.
