(photograph © Kiwidutch)

The Sand Sculpture exhibition in Garderen had for it’s 2016 theme, the work of Rien Poortvliet, a Dutch artist well known for his gnomes and hunting paintings.

Following the hunting idea a little, the next sand sculpture is all about nature and the native birds and animals of The Netherlands.

There is an information board close by which translates from it’s Dutch only text into English as:
“… De vossen hebben holen” (Foxes have holes) And Jesus said unto him, Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests…(Luke 9:58)”

Which wildlife have we got in the netherlands where do they live and what are their charactors?

The red deer, roe deer, doe, fox, hare, rabbit,  grouse, wild duck, pheasant, wld boar, all animals that live close to us which stand out / are wonderful to look at.”

These animals have been displayed together as one large sculptural piece, Let’s take a look…
