Battling For A Name To This Amazing Piece…

(photograph © Kiwidutch)

I missed out (Number 20) in yesterday’s post about the  Competition section of the 2017 Garderen Sand Sculpture exhibition.

The reason was because I think it is one of my favourite sculptures in sand to date, not just from here but from any that I have ever seen.

it’s a complex piece about a game in the competition that I don’t actually know the name of, but wow, whatever it is the sculptor has done them proud.

There are three horses and riders on a background of a kind of Waterloo style battle.

The background details the battle field, cannon and so forth. In the front are three sort of “counters”? one with a kind of Duke or General’s hat, the second with a bomb and third, and image that I can’t put a name to, don’t quite understand. This is a beautiful, complex and stunningly worked out piece. I’m impressed beyond words… Reader Marie-Jacqueline has wonderfully helped again: This is the game STRATEGO.

    • First of all: Thank you for the nice gesture to include the solutions I found in your text.

      I really appreciate this.

I agree this sandsculpture is made with eye for detail, even the coleurs are so well done.

The stones, read and blue with the symbols on it gave it away.
We had the game as we were growing up.
      Like PimPamPet, Ganzenbord, Kwartet.

      • Marie-Jacqueline,
You are most welcome but I wouldn’t dream of doing otherwise… it would be seriously rude of me to take the credit when you so kindly did the work!!! It’s wonderful to be able to share (and give credit for) YOUR knowledge and memories of these games 🙂
