An Unexpected Find!

Leaving the “2nd Maasvlakte’ area of the Port of Rotterdam, I spot this mural. It’s stylized representation of a large container ship, containers on a train that snakes away on the right (or maybe they are containers arriving?) and the port cranes and docks in the background, means that you have to take a good look to figure it all out. Regular readers will know that I delight in seeing blank walls filled with art, they also know that more abstract design is not really my thing. That doesn’t stop me from enjoying this though. Art ! ,,,way out here in the industrial area of a port… I’m loving this find!

They done something like that very near where I live. It is painted on a ‘geluidswal’ (English?) of the A73 on the side of the local traffic

I hope you will find the article (dutch) and the photo’s of it.

It’s always nice to look at it driving/cycling by.

    • Marie-Jacqueline,
I couldn’t get your link to work… is it this one maybe?

But looking around I also found this one:

      2) http://roermond.kleuronderweg.nl/?p=130

      and wow… I think this part of No.2 ?

I also read that this mural is an amazing 800 metres long! , so maybe they are all bits of the same wall?
Either way it’s a FANTASTIC initiative, Kudos to whoever in Roermond set this in motion and the artists who painted it. I am seriously impressed.

      • Marie-Jacqueline,
Duh, I’m slow and didn’t see the second link right away… Wow… it’s even a different one to the one I found on the “Kleuronerweg” website (“colour on the way” – possibly a word play on the idea that these are all on roads /motorways / bridges etc? maybe?) Needless to say this one is right up my street too, THANK YOU for showing me something new!
